Memorial Hermann Capitalizes on an Integrated Project Cost Control Solution
Memorial Hermann replaced its triple entry system (Access, Excel and Lawson) with a single-entry e-Builder Enterprise project management control solution.
One of the largest not-for-profit health systems in the nation, Memorial Hermann
Health System serves Southeast Texas and the greater Houston community through 15 hospitals. The system also operates three Heart & Vascular Institutes, the Mischer Neuroscience Institute, three IRONMAN Sports Medicine Institute locations, as well as a number of specialized care centers and laboratories.
The provider’s facilities services team handles an active $2 billion capital construction program with over 400 capital projects currently underway to support the region’s population growth. Capital projects range from $5,000 small remodels to $650 million ground-up renovation. The size and complexity of the capital program and the disconnected cost management process created a number of costly and risky issues.
CHALLENGE: DISPARATE DATA
To effectively manage a complex, multifaceted billion dollar capital program, Memorial Hermann’s project management team must have access to accurate and up-to-date project cost information—a difficult prospect with the old tools and processes.
