Using Trimble Cityworks to Streamline 811 “Call Before You Dig” Services
Indio Water Authority, California, is using Trimble Cityworks and Axim Geospatial to address California’s Electronic Positive Response (EPR) mandate, which requires utility organizations to send electronic communications to excavators, developers, and contractors, updating them on the status of 811 “Call Before You Dig” requests. Indio Water Authority leverages python scripts to retrieve tickets from DigAlert, as well as extract data from Trimble Cityworks to route back to DigAlert, ensuring that there is proper communication between utility organizations and contractors.
This new workflow has streamlined Indio Water Authority’s 811 “Call Before You Dig” process, ensuring that they are compliant with California’s EPR mandate, and has fostered greater productivity. They have increased the number of completed ticket requests by fifty percent, decreased the number of asset damage incidents, and improved customer service.
